Mainframe are larger than those of microcomputer or minicomputer. Mainframe requires a large rooms for installation of systems. It play a vital role as a server in wide area networking ( WAN). Mainframe computer are used for storing large database and solving computer problems. It is also used for railways reservation, weather information, payroll computation, business transactions, etc.
Some popular mainframe are IBM, HP, etc.
